Ponto

What is Ponto?

Ponto is an open-banking platform (PSD2) from the Belgian fintech Isabel Group. It securely links software to your business bank account, so an application like Club Planner can read your bank transactions without you having to connect to each bank separately.

You always log in with your own bank and grant explicit permission there (using your usual bank credentials and strong authentication). Ponto does not store your banking codes, access is limited to the accounts you add yourself, and you can revoke it at any time. In Club Planner we use Ponto as an automatic bank feed: it retrieves your bank transactions and prepares them for processing.

What can Ponto do for my club?

Ponto takes most of the manual work around your account statements off your hands. Instead of uploading a CODA file or bank statement every time, your transactions come in automatically and are immediately reconciled against your members' payments.

  • Automatic bank reconciliation - incoming payments with a structured reference are automatically matched to your members' outstanding subscription payments and marked as paid.
  • Automatic processing of returned direct debits - unpaid or reversed SEPA direct debits are recognised and recorded as unpaid, with the correct reason.
  • Less manual work - you no longer have to import CODA files or account statements manually; the import happens automatically in the background.
  • Overview in Club Planner - each synchronisation produces a bank batch (marked as "PONTO") that you can open in the bank batch screen to review the reconciled lines. You also receive a summary email for each processing run.
  • Every European bank - Ponto connects with a large number of European banks, so you remain free to choose your bank.

How do I set up Ponto?

The connection runs entirely through a secure authorisation (OAuth). You do not need to enter an API key, client ID or secret code - you simply confirm access with Ponto and with your bank.

  1. Make sure you have a Ponto account. Create an account in advance at myponto.com and link at least one bank account within Ponto there. Club Planner does not create this account; it only authorises against your existing Ponto organisation. A Ponto account at myponto.com is therefore a requirement. For any terms and pricing from Ponto, we refer you to Ponto itself.
  2. Open the integration in MyClubPlanner. Go to Settings > Integrations, find the Ponto card and click the Settings button to open the Ponto management screen.
  3. Start the authorisation. Click the "+" button (authorise new accounts). A new browser tab opens and you will see a "please wait" window appear.
  4. Grant permission with Ponto and your bank. In the new tab you log in with Ponto and with your bank and grant access. The choice of which accounts you link happens here on the Ponto/bank side - not in Club Planner.
  5. Back in Club Planner. After your confirmation you are automatically returned. Club Planner saves the organisation and automatically adds all authorised bank accounts. The window closes and the account table is refreshed.
  6. (Optional) Fine-tune an account. Open an account in the table to set the type/mode, the owner club and the mail recipients (To/CC/BCC) for the reconciliation report. Newly linked accounts are set to automatic import with processing by default, so automatic importing and reconciliation are active right away.
  7. Let it run. After that the import happens automatically in the background (roughly every 8 hours, between 06:00 and 22:00). If you want to synchronise immediately, click the play button (Sync). Use the key button to request a new synchronisation/token when the connection needs to be renewed.

Good to know: a PSD2 bank connection is temporary and, under banking rules, must be reconfirmed periodically (roughly every 90 to 180 days, depending on your bank). When the connection needs to be renewed, you will automatically receive an email about it with a link to reconnect Ponto.
