What is Technogym?
Technogym is an Italian manufacturer of fitness equipment, founded in 1983 and based in Cesena (Italy). It is one of the world's largest makers of cardio and strength equipment (treadmills, bikes, cross trainers, rowing machines, multigyms, racks, cable machines and functional-training gear) and supplies clubs, hotels, spas, rehabilitation centres and private individuals.
Besides the equipment, Technogym also offers mywellness: a cloud platform that connects the equipment, your staff and your members with one another. Members identify themselves on a machine, after which their personal programme is loaded automatically and their results are stored in their profile. For you as a club operator, mywellness is in practice the software layer: a member app under your own name, plus the connection to the equipment.
Technogym is an EU supplier, which is relevant for Belgian clubs: the member data (including health data) held in the mywellness cloud is subject to the GDPR.
What can Technogym do for my club?
Club Planner has an integration with Technogym mywellness (Technogym PRO). In concrete terms, this integration means your member and subscription management stays in Club Planner, while the necessary data flows automatically to Technogym. That way you don't have to maintain anything twice.
What the integration does for you:
- Automatic synchronisation of members, subscriptions and visits between Club Planner and mywellness. This sync runs as a background service hosted by Club Planner, so not on your club's PC.
- Decide per subscription type what gets sent. If you tick the Technogym box on a subscription type, that membership is activated in mywellness. If the box is unticked, it is treated there as expired. This keeps you in control of who gets access to the equipment.
- Link members to their mywellness profile. Via the sync (or manually per member with Send to Technogym), your members get a linked Technogym profile, so their programme and results travel with them across the equipment.
- Optional check-in gate. For linked members, an access rule can be activated that only opens the check-in if the member has a mywellness booking within the next 60 minutes. If you wish, you can limit this to specific check-in points.
On the Technogym side, your members and staff also have access to the capabilities of mywellness itself (including personalised programmes on the equipment, a member app and results tracking). Those features are part of the Technogym platform; the Club Planner integration mainly ensures the correct data exchange underneath.
How do I set up Technogym?
The setup is partly something you can do yourself, but in practice it is activated together with Club Planner (support). You can switch the integration on or off yourself and enter the key/URL, but a working setup (login details, member prefix, base URL and any access rules) is configured by the Club Planner back office.
What do you need beforehand?
- A Technogym mywellness / Technogym PRO facility with API access for external parties enabled (to be requested from Technogym).
- From Technogym/mywellness: the FacilityUrl, an API key and login details (username + password) for the integration.
- A staff member with the AllowSettings permission to open Settings > Integrations (and AllowMemberUpdate to use Send to Technogym per member).
The steps:
- In MyClubPlanner, go to Settings > Integrations > Technogym.
- Turn the Active switch on.
- Enter the API-Key (received from Technogym).
- Enter the Technogym URL (FacilityUrl) and click Save. The integration only becomes active once these three fields are filled in.
- For each subscription type that should sync, tick the Technogym box (on the subscription's settings tab).
- Together with Club Planner support: the mywellness username and password, the member prefix, the base URL and the sync filters have no screen and are configured by the back office. To set this up, provide your Technogym login details to Club Planner.
- Optional: link individual members via Send to Technogym (in the employee app or desktop).
- Optional: have the check-in gate (mandatory booking within 60 min) activated by support. Note: for this, members must be linked first, and the check-in app must be restarted before the setting takes effect.
Who sets up what:
| Component | Where | By whom |
|---|---|---|
| Active on/off | Settings > Integrations > Technogym | Club (self) |
| API-Key | Settings > Integrations > Technogym | Club (self) |
| Technogym URL | Settings > Integrations > Technogym | Club (self) |
| Technogym tick box per subscription | Subscription settings | Club (self) |
| Login, prefix, base URL, filters | No screen | Club Planner support |
| Enable background sync | Club Planner infrastructure | Club Planner support |
| Check-in gate (60-min booking) | No screen | Club Planner support |
In short: you switch the integration on yourself and enter the key and URL, but for a complete, working setup, contact Club Planner support and keep your Technogym details to hand.
