This article provides more information about the pro rata setting.
Pro rata means that the membership fee (whether purchased online, in-store, or in-person) for the initial period is charged proportionally to the length of time someone uses their membership.
👉 Concrete example:
- Suppose a gym membership costs €50/month and a customer starts on the 15th of the month.
- Instead of paying the full amount immediately, the remaining days are charged pro rata (approximately half, so approximately €25).
The same applies when a recurring membership is frozen: the customer receives a pro rata discount for the days or weeks during which their membership is effectively frozen. More information about discounts.
What types of pro rata are there?
Club Planner offers two types of pro rata:
- Type 1: The member pays pro rata for the number of days in the current month plus the entire following month. From the third month onward, the member will be charged directly.
- Type 2: The member only pays pro rata for the number of days in the current month. Direct debit payments will be accepted starting next month.

How do I set the pro rata type for my club?
- Go to Settings - Financial - General.
- At the bottom, you can select the pro rata type.
